IC 2179 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E1 in the constellation Camelopardalis in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 198 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light-years across. Together with NGC 2347 it forms the isolated galaxy pair KPG 128 and together they are members of the eight galaxies NGC 2347 group ( LGG 140 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2347 .
The object was discovered by Guillaume Bigourdan on February 24, 1894 .
