NGC 2282 is a reflection nebula in the constellation Unicorn that is listed in the New General Catalog . It surrounds the open star cluster OCl 535 and is illuminated by it. The nebula was discovered on March 3, 1886 by the astronomer Edward Barnard using a 6-inch telescope. This object was later observed again by the astronomer Edward Barnard and listed in the Index Catalog as number 2172.
