IC 3586 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 67 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 20,000 ly and is listed under catalog number VVC 1695 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
The galaxies NGC 4551 , NGC 4552 , IC 3574 , IC 3606 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Arnold Schwassmann on November 23, 1900 .
