IC 5270 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Southern Pisces in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 89 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies IC 1459 , IC 5264 , IC 5269 are located in the same area of the sky .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1993L was observed here.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on August 12, 1896 .
