In the afterlife there are still rooms available (original title: Tower of Terror ) is an American horror comedy from 1997 . Directed by DJ MacHale , who also wrote the script and co-produced the film.
action
In the beginning, one showing flashback the Halloween night of 1939 in which five people with a lift in the Hollywood Tower Hotel drive. A flash of lightning shines and the people disappear without a trace.
At present it is believed that the ghosts of the disappeared would appear in the hotel from time to time. The reporter Buzzy Crocker wants to write an article about it, with his niece Anna Petterson helping him. They meet Abigail Gregory, an elderly woman who knows the history of the hotel well. She says that people disappeared as a result of a curse from the witch Emeline Partridge, who had had enough of the then-missing child star Sally Shine.
Crocker and Petterson meet the ghosts. They learn that Partridge was not a witch, but Gregory is one. She has the power to lift the curse. It turns out that Gregory and Shine are sisters; Gregory seeks forgiveness from Shine. The spirits go to heaven; Shine comes back and leaves the hotel together with Gregory - who is suddenly young. Crocker finds a friend, Jill Perry.
Reviews
Diane Selkirk wrote in the Apollo Movie Guide that the film was formulaic, but that it followed a " good formula ". It is humorous and filled with adventure, the representations are solid - just like the story told. You can like the characters.
Film-Dienst wrote that the film was a " fantasy comedy with a family touch that suffered badly from the volatile plot and the mediocre actors ".

Kirsten Dunst was nominated in 1998 for the Young Artist Award for best young leading actress in a television film or in a miniseries .
