Interslawisch ( Medžuslovjansky, Меджусловјанскы ) is a Slavic constructed language , created in 2006 under the name Slovianski by a group of Slavic from different countries under the guidance of Dutch linguists Jan van Steenbergen has been developed. The development was carried out with the aim of facilitating communication between speakers of different Slavic languages and giving people who previously did not speak a Slavic language the opportunity to communicate with the Slavs. Both the grammar and vocabulary are based entirely on the similarities between the Slavic languages. In contrast to Slovio , which is also a Slavic but schematically structured planned language, the grammar of which is largely based on Esperanto , Inter- Slavic is a naturalistic language that does not have any artificial elements and is based only on the Slavic ethnic languages, in particular on Old Church Slavonic . The developers of the language assume that 90% of Slavs could understand Inter-Slavonic without prior learning. Interslavic is written in both the Latin and the Cyrillic alphabet.
Since 2017 there is a scientific journal, partly in Interslavic, Slovjani . The language was also used for most of the dialogues in the 2019 film The Painted Bird by Czech director Václav Marhoul. As of August 2020, the language's Facebook group has over 10,000 members.
