Iren Reppen (born December 19, 1965 in Harstad , Norway) is a Norwegian actress , singer , artist and theater director .

Career

Reppen grew up in her hometown Harstad. She attended Statens teaterhøgskole (State Theater School) in Oslo from 1987 to 1990 . After this acting training, she made her stage debut in 1990 in the role of Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim . Then she went to Norske Teatret , where she worked as a theater actress for a long time. Iren Reppen was the theater director of Hålogaland Teater in Troms , Finnmark for four years from 2009 to 2013 . Since April 2013 Reppen has been the artistic director of the annual Per Gynt Festival in Vinstra . Furthermore, Iren Reppen has a seat in the Norsk kulturråd of the cultural department for the period from 2012 to 2015 .

Reppen played as a stage actress in various theaters across Norway. She is also active as a film actress in numerous roles and in many Norwegian film and television productions . She has also been involved in many television series and television shows as an actress, presenter and announcer on Norwegian radio and television , including the NRK .

She made her film debut in 1991 in the drama For dagene er onde as Anne and in 1992 in The Warrior's Heart as Kari Simonnaes. She also worked in the Norwegian Olsen Gang Junior series as Monica von Klem on the side of Jan Grønli (Maximillian von Klem) together in the role of the fraudulent couple in the film Olsenbanden jr. Sølvgruvens hemmelighet with. In the German-speaking countries, she had her best-known appearance in the German tragic comedy The Last Turns Out the Light! as the Norwegian teacher Anne. In 2012 she appeared in the German-Norwegian feature film Gnade as Sofie and in the thriller Escape - Legacy of the Vikings as Synnøve.

The musical show De 'e' hardt å være mainn (It's hard to be a man) premiered at Festspillene i Nord-Norge (Festival in Nord-Norge ) in 1994 and became Reppen's greatest success to date. In the show she appeared together with the dancer Jo Strømgren . After the premiere, they went on tour with the Riksteatret in Nord-Norge in 1995 and with the support of the Norske Teatret in the autumn of the same year . The showmaster and presenter of the Norwegian TV show Åpen post Harald Eia used the main character «Kattekvinnen» from the play in his show; Reppen also appeared on his show, which helped her gain further popularity. Songs from the piece Det e hardt å være mainn were released in 1996 on LP and CD as Reppen's debut music album.

Reppen wrote the lyrics for the songs back in 1992. The lyrics revolve around power, sex and love, which she interprets in an ironic way in her songs.

Private

Iren Reppen is the sister of the Norwegian economist and author Erik Reppen (* 1967), who wrote the well-known financial thriller “Macho Syndrome” (Macho Syndrome).

She is married to the Norwegian actor Hallvard Holmen (* 1966).
