The Irish National Under-20 Football Team is a national team of Irish football players. It is subject to the Football Association of Ireland and represents them internationally at the U-20 level , for example in friendly matches against the national teams of other national associations or at the U-20 World Cup .
The team achieved their best result at a world championship in 1997 in Nigeria , when they won the game for third place against Ghana after the semi-final defeat against eventual world champions Argentina . In addition, the team reached the round of 16 in 1999 and 2003 . In 1985 and 1991 she was eliminated in the preliminary round.
