Friedrich "Itze" Grünzweig (born March 3, 1956 in Klosterneuburg ) is an Austrian painter , musician and actor and winner of the cultural award of the city of Klosterneuburg.
Life
In his youth, Itze Grünzweig began an apprenticeship at the Higher Graphical Federal Training and Research Institute and completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic . He then held various jobs as a technical draftsman , chauffeur and technicians and began casually self-taught guitar and harmonica to learn. Over time, painting, music and acting gained more and more importance. On November 8th, 2004 he was awarded the culture prize by the city of Klosterneuburg.
Grünzweig is in a relationship with the actress Erika Deutinger . They always have joint artistic projects .

Painting style
From the initial ( colored ) pen drawings , a mixed technique of watercolors and colored pencils has developed, whereby works with oil , acrylic paints , charcoal and also 3D pictures are created. In addition, Itze Grünzweig also painted a Harley Davidson tank in airbrush (air brush technique) with car paint.
Even as a child, Grünzweig recognized his talent for bringing human weaknesses, large and small, to paper or canvas with a keen eye. His works are marked by satire and black humor , sometimes with political and economic content. He exhibits his cultural and nature-related pictures or character studies of special contemporaries several times a year as part of a retrospective in galleries and museums throughout Austria and Germany . In addition to German and American cartoonists, Erich Sokol and Manfred Deix also influenced his artistic development .
Calenda
Since 2000, Itze Grünzweig has been bringing out the so-called “ Kalenda ” for next year in November , which has become a collector's item with a strictly limited edition . Musicians and bands appear in 3 presentations at a noble wine tavern in Klosterneuburg. There the calendar can be purchased alongside other works with a dedication by Itze Grünzweig. A presentation took place in 2001 in the National Library . In addition, Itze Grünzweig also produces Christmas cards , birthday calendars , books and custom-made caricature portraits.
music
In 1986 he founded the folk rock group "Opi & Röhrljeans", which also included Alexander Kosch, Peter Krotte and Wolfgang Mühlegger. Even today, Grünzweig is known to his fans as "Grandpa". In 1991 he founded the Boring Blues Band, which is still in existence today, with Bernhard Slavicek, Mike Maloy, Gert Haussner and others and worked there mainly as a singer and harmonica player until 2013 . Even today he occasionally plays as a “special guest” at concerts.
For special occasions he still appears today with Gert Haussner in the formation "Hauss ´n´Itz" at concerts and charity events. He offers guitaristic interludes in readings with Erika Deutinger and acting. Musically, besides the blues , Bob Dylan and Willy DeVille also shaped his folk-rock style, whose songs he still likes to interpret today. Grünzweig also appears in spontaneous formations with various Austrian artists such as Erwin Schmidt in the course of concerts and jam sessions .

Acting and directing
In 1987 he founded the ORF - director Lisa Brown, the drama amateur theater group "The incorrigible" and the same year he began working as illustrator and author of the women's cabaret cooperate "Menubeln". From 1997 he was a member of the professional theater group "accus" and had furthermore also activities in summer theater Gossam , the Ensemble Theater and City Theater Mödling . Since 2015 he has been touring with children's theater performances under the direction of Paola Aguilera. Since 2010 he has worked as a director and actor for the Weidling theater group , which annually stages a new play under the direction of Richard Spann .
