Jablonka (translated "young apple tree", which is due to the many apple trees in the municipality, Hungarian Szvancairtvány ) is a municipality in western Slovakia .
Location and general
The community is located in the hilly country between the Little Carpathians to the south and the White Carpathians to the north . Nové Mesto nad Váhom is about 25 kilometers east of the municipality, Myjava about 7 kilometers northwest, Senica about 20 kilometers northwest. The highest point in the municipality is the Lipovec mountain at 499 meters. The commune is divided by the Jablonka River , which flows east into the Váh near Piešťany .
The place was created in the second half of the 16th century as a result of the refugee movements caused by the Turkish invasion of Hungary. The name Jablonka was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1690, but the municipality was not officially formed until April 1, 1955 through a spin-off from the city of Myjava and still exists alongside the main town ( Jablonka centrum ), which until then had developed into a hermitage following 25 settlements:
