Jan Pohl (born January 9, 1982 in Berlin ) is a German actor .

Life

From 2002 to 2006 Pohl studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna , where he had role lessons with Klaus Maria Brandauer and Maria Happel . In 2005 he was awarded an ensemble prize at the 16th national competition of German-speaking drama schools. In 2006 he obtained his acting diploma at the Max Reinhardt Seminar. He had theater engagements at the Reichenau Festival (2006), the Theater der Jugend Wien (2007), the Théâtre National du Luxembourg / Nationaltheater Luxemburg (2007), the WUK Vienna (2007), the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto (2012; as Frosch in Die Fledermaus in English, directed by Christopher Alden ), at the English National Opera in London (2012; also as Frosch), at the Theater Academy Hamburg in Thalia in Gaußstrasse (2014) and at Heimathafen Neukölln (2015).

For his film roles, he attended a film acting workshop at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy . Further acting studies followed at Michael Howard Studios and HB Studio in New York City (2008/2009) as well as at the Actors Center in Great Britain.

Pohl also worked in various German and international cinema and television productions. In international productions he was mostly used as a German officer or SS man. He made his cinema debut in Stefan Ruzowitzky's film Die Fälscher , which had its world premiere in February 2007 at the Berlinale . In Spike Lee's war film Buffalo Soldiers '44 - The Miracle of St. Anna (2008) he played the captured deserter Hans Brandt, a young former corporal of the Waffen-SS . In Werther (2008) by director Uwe Janson , a modern version of Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther set in Berlin today , he was Sunny, the young employee of the publisher Albert. Pohl also had episode roles in the television series SOKO Cologne (2009; as a drug addict friend PeterGenschel), SOKO Wismar (2010; as Markus Hiller, son of the murdered golf club president), A case for two (2012; as a "pharmaceutical victim" Uwe Lenz ), Alles Klara (2013; as a suspect pizza baker Lukas Keller, who was previously in possession of drugs), SOKO Stuttgart (2015; as Mirko Laufenberg, husband of a murdered pigeon fancier) and Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei (2016 ). In April 2016, Pohl was also seen in an episode role in the ZDF series last trace Berlin ; he played Kilian Nolde, the ex-boyfriend of a young girl suffering from bipolar personality disorder .
