Dreiländereck near Jaworzynka

Southwest of Jaworzynka is the triangle between Poland (Silesian Voivodeship), the Czech Republic ( Moravian-Silesian ) and Slovakia . A “boundary stone” has been erected on the territory of each of the three countries. The exact boundary point is marked by a boundary stone in the stream bed.

Until 1918, the historical border between Silesia and Galicia ran over the ridge of the Silesian Beskids along today's border between the districts of Teschen ( Cieszyń ) and Saybusch ( Żywiec ). The historic triangle between Silesia ( Duchy of Teschen ), the Kingdom of Galicia and the Kingdom of Hungary (Slovakia) was about 10 km further east on Trojaki Mountain (646 m) northwest of Zwardoń.

history

The village is located in the Olsa region (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

The settlement began around the early 17th century and was first mentioned in 1621 as Jaworzinka . The name is derived from the word jaworzyna , the forest of mountain maples (Polish jawor ).

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial it formed from 1850 a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Teschen district and Jablunkau judicial district . In the years 1880–1910 the population increased from 1369 in 1880 to 1642 in 1910, there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 99.4% and 99.9%), in 1890 also 8 (0.6%) German speakers, in 1910 also 6 (0.4%) Czech speakers. In 1910 98.9% were Roman Catholic, 1.1% (19 people) were Protestant.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Jaworzynka came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

In 1924, after an objection by the residents, the hamlet of Herczawa was separated from Jaworzynka and joined to Czechoslovakia ( Hrčava ).

From 1975 to 1998 Jaworzynka was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
