Jeff Burrell

Jeff Burrell (born May 25, 1968 in New York ) is an American actor, speaker, voice actor and dubbing director. He lives in Berlin.

Life

From 1982 to 1986, Burrell attended the School of Performing Arts (also known as the Fame School) in New York . He then studied German Studies at Oberlin College in Ohio. In 1990, a Fulbright scholarship led Burrell to the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . He completed his studies in 1994 at the meeting of the German-speaking drama schools with an ensemble award.

Jeff Burrell played at the Neuen Theater Halle from 1994 to 2000 under the direction of Peter Sodann .

Since 2000 he has lived and worked as a freelance actor and speaker in Berlin. Burrell worked in international film productions under the directors Lars von Trier ( Nymphomaniac ) and Roman Polański ( The Ghost Writer ) . The film Povodyr (The Guide) was the 2014 Ukrainian Oscar nomination. Burrell's partner in the film was the singer Jamala , who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.

In Germany he played in the film adaptation of Tommy Jaud's novel Resturlaub , Christian Petzold's Phoenix and in the ZDF film Das Zeugenhaus alongside Iris Berben (director: Matti Geschonneck ). In 2018, Burrell starred on Turkish television in the series Börü and in the Polish series Nielegalni (The Illegals) .

For the film Robin - Watch for Wishes he won the award for best actor at the FSFX Festival.

He is also active as a voice actor, dialogue director and dialogue book author for English-language dubbing.

Burrell speaks regularly at Deutsche Welle TV for animation series and advertising as well as dubbing (including MacTapfer in The Smurfs or Geoff in Michael Haneke's Love ). He also appeared as a speaker with orchestras, u. a. with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker in Porgy & Bess .

Most recently, Jeff Burrell took on the role of Fred Madison in the production Lost Highway by the composer Olga Neuwirth at the Frankfurt Opera. Directed by Yuval Sharon .
