The Jevišovka (German Jaispitzer Bach , also Gessowka ) is a left tributary of the Thaya in the Czech Republic .

course

The Jevišovka rises west of Komárovice in the Jevišovická pahorkatina ( Jaispitzer hill country ); its source is at the southeastern foot of the Láč hill (587 m nm). The stream flows in a south-easterly direction through the Budkau Forest on its upper course and is dammed in several ponds there. The Moravské Budějovice – Jemnice railway crosses the stream below the forest . This is followed by the villages of Jackov, Krnčice, Častohostice , Blízkovice and Harendy along the stream , where the Znojmo – Nymburk railway crosses the Jevišovka. In Grešlové Mýto the Silnice I / 38 crosses the stream.

The Jevišovka then takes an easterly direction and flows over Boskovštejn , Střelice and Jevišovice through the Jevišovka Nature Park. On this section the brook forms an increasingly rocky deep valley and is dammed in the Jevišovice reservoir west of Jevišovice . In Jevišovice, the Jevišovka flows through two river loops, above which the Old Castle and the desert Jevišovice Castle face each other. At Záduška the Jevišovka turns again to the southeast; along its course are Černín , Vevčice , Venclův Mlýn, Culpovec and Plaveč , where the stream leaves the Jevišovka Nature Park and flows into the Výrovice reservoir. The right-hand slopes in the area of the mouth of Plenkovický potok opposite Culpovec are part of the Lapikus natural monument. The stream then flows through Výrovice and Tvořihráz , where it leaves the Jevišovická pahorkatina and reaches the Thaya-Schwarza valley .

Its lower course through the plain leads past Žerotice , Kyjovice , Bohunice, Prosiměřice , Vítonice , Stošíkovice na Louce and Práče . In Lechovice the stream is crossed by the Silnice I / 53 . This is followed by Borotice , Filipovice, Mlýnské Domky, České Křídlovice and Božice . On its last section the Jevišovka turns again to the east; along the stream are the colony of U Dvora, Karlov, Pravice , Emin Zámek, Nový Dvůr - where it is bridged by the Hevlín – Brno railway line - and Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou and Jevišovka . After almost 82 kilometers, the Jevišovka joins the Thaya east of the village of Jevišovka ; opposite is the mouth of the Baštýnský potok ( Basteiner Bach ).

The Jevišovka has a catchment area of 787 km². This includes 267 ponds and reservoirs with a total area of 377 ha. Of these, the Výrovice reservoir is the largest with 52.36 ha. The Jevišovice dam, built between 1894 and 1897, is one of the oldest Central European dam structures with a gravity wall . The average flow of the Jevišovka in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou is 1.35 m³ / s.
