Le Jingyi ( Chinese  樂 靖 宜 ; born March 19, 1975 in Shanghai ) is a former swimmer from China .

Career

Le Jingyi, one of the most successful Chinese swimmers in the 1990s, celebrated her first international success at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona when she won the silver medal behind the USA in the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay .

She first attracted international attention in 1993 at the Short Course World Championships in Palma , when she set new world records in the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyle as well as the Chinese 4 × 100 meter , the 4 × 200 meter freestyle and the 4 × 100 meter relay Won gold medal.

She made the most controversial appearance of her career at the 1994 World Swimming Championships in Rome .
