John Paul Caglione junior (* 1958 ) is an American makeup artist and Oscar winner .

Life

At the age of 16, Caglione met Dick Smith , who he saw as the greatest makeup artist of all time. During high school he worked as a dental technician in a laboratory in Albany . During this time he already learned some makeup techniques from Smith. After graduating from high school in 1976, Smith recommended to NBC's makeup department . During six years as a makeup artist, Caglione worked on soap operas , news, and other television shows . From 1980 he finally gained a foothold in the film business. In 1982 he designed the special make-up for Woody Allen's film Zelig, for which he received his first nomination for a BAFTA Award . Caglione sees the film Dick Tracy as the cornerstone of his career , for which he received his first Oscar in 1991 . It was also his first collaboration with Al Pacino , which was to be followed by more.
