geography

Johnsbach is located in the Gesäuse National Park and consists of a single cadastral community. The place is an extensive scattered settlement of farms in the Johnsbachtal, a side valley of the Ennstal in the section of the Gesäuses . From the Johnsbach train station or the Bachbrücke junction, the valley first leads southwards like a gorge and widens after about 5 kilometers, turning to the east, where the "center" of the village with the Aegydius Church, the cemetery and an inn is located.
