Career

Junland in the jersey of the Linköpings HC

Jonas Junland began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Linköpings HC , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2005/06 season . He remained pointless and punished in four games. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2006 in the third round as a total of 64th player by the St. Louis Blues . Initially, however, the defender stayed for another two years with his home club, with which he was runner- up in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. From 2008 to 2010 he was in a total of four games for the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League on the ice and gave two assists. However, he spent the rest of the time with their farm team Peoria Rivermen in the American Hockey League . He was a constant in Peoria and was rewarded with his participation in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2009 .

For the 2010/11 season Junland returned to Sweden, where he had a contract with Färjestad BK , with which he was Swedish champion straight away . For the 2011/12 season he was committed by Barys Astana from the Continental Hockey League .

Shortly after the start of his second season in Astana - in October 2012 - his current contract with Barys was terminated and Junland received a contract with the Pelicans from the SM-liiga , but subsequently only played a few games for the club.

For the 2013/14 season he returned to his home club Linköpings HC , where he stayed until the end of the 2015/16 season. In March 2016 he was signed by Lausanne HC from the Swiss National League A (NLA). He was named the best defender of the NLA main round 2016/17.

International

For Sweden , Junland took part in the 2007 U20 World Youth Championship . In this he scored one goal and one assist in seven games.

During the Euro Hockey Tour 2007/08 he made his first international matches for Sweden's national team.
