Benjamin Antonietti (born July 7, 1991 in Orbe ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lausanne HC in the National League again since January 2018 . His brother Eliot is also a hockey player.

Career

Benjamin Antonietti began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Genève-Servette HC . In the 2008/09 season he first came to professional applications, as the right winger darting in 17 appearances for EHC Basel from the second-rate National League B aground. In the following season Antonietti was active both for Genève-Servette HC in the National League A and - again as a loan player - for the NLB club EHC Basel and completed 15 NLA and NLB games. The striker finally made his breakthrough in the professional field one season later, when he was on loan at Lausanne HC and established himself as a regular with the Vaudois. After the right-handed shooter had been signed by the Lausanne team, the Romands failed again to win the NLB championship and were defeated in the playoff final for the second time in a row in spring 2012.

Antonietti became an integral part of the Lausanne offensive and was instrumental in winning the NLB championship title and the return to the top division in the 2012/13 season . In particular, with 14 points in 21 games in the playoffs, the right-shooter proved to be effective. In his first full NLA season, the 2013/14 season , the attacker surprisingly qualified for the finals with Lausanne HC and only lost to qualifying winner ZSC Lions in the deciding seventh game in the quarterfinals . With three goals and one assist in seven games in the finals, Antonietti was the best Swiss player in the Vaudois; only the Finn Juha-Pekka Hytönen and the Swede Daniel Bång were overall more successful.

In the summer of 2017, he moved to Rouen Hockey Elite 76 from Ligue Magnus , before returning to the LHC in January 2018.

International

For Switzerland , Antonietti took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2009 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2010 and 2011 .
