Dustin Jeffrey (born February 27, 1988 in Sarnia , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lausanne HC from the Swiss National League A since June 2016 .
Career
Dustin Jeffrey began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , where he played for the Mississauga IceDogs and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds was active. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2007 in the sixth round as a total of 171 players by the Pittsburgh Penguins , with whom he signed his first contract in October 2007. In the 2007/08 season he completed 15 playoff games for Pittsburgh's farm team, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , in the American Hockey League . With Wilkes-Barre / Scranton he immediately reached the playoff final for the Calder Cup , in which he and his team were defeated by the Chicago Wolves . In the following two seasons, the center was a regular in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton and was occasionally used for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League . In 2010 he also took part in the AHL All-Star Classic for the first time.
Jeffrey also started the 2010/11 season with Wilkes-Barre / Scranton in the AHL, but from December 2010 he was regularly on the ice with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL and after Sidney Crosby's injury he moved permanently to the NHL Team of the Penguins before he was also injured in late March 2010. In addition, he again took part in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2011. In July 2011, his contract in Pittsburgh was extended by two years.
During the NHL lockout in 2012 Jeffrey played at KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league .
The Penguins put Jeffrey on the waiver in November 2013 , which allowed the Dallas Stars to sign him. After winning the Calder Cup with the Texas Stars , his expiring contract was not extended. As a result, the Vancouver Canucks signed him in July 2014.
In the Canucks, Jeffrey was used exclusively in the AHL at the Utica Comets , before he was given to the New York Islanders in March 2015 in exchange for Cory Conacher . There he was also used in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , before he left the franchise in July 2015 to join the Arizona Coyotes and their farm team, the Springfield Falcons .
In February 2016 Jeffrey, Dan O'Donoghue and James Melindy were given to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Matia Marcantuoni and thus returned to the organization for which he had already been active from 2008 to 2013.
In June 2016, Jeffrey decided a two-year deal with Lausanne HC of the Swiss National League A to sign.
