Jordy van Oorschot (born August 7, 1987 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Tilburg Trappers since 2014 and has played with the club in the German Oberliga Nord since 2015 .

Career

Clubs

Van Oorschot, who comes from the port city of Rotterdam , began his career as a hockey player in Zoetermeer with the Panters there , for whom he made his debut in the second highest Dutch league as a 17-year-old . In 2005 he moved to HYS The Hague , where he spent his first season in the honor division . He then moved to league competitor Amstel Tijgers Amsterdam for three years , with whom he won the Dutch cup competition in his first season there . In 2009 he moved back to HYS The Hague. With the team from the royal seat, he won the Dutch national championship title in 2011 and 2013 and the cup competition in 2012. In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons he was named the best defender in the honor division. In 2014 he moved to the Tilburg Trappers , with whom he won the championship and cup double in 2015 and was once again voted the best defender in the league. Since 2015 he has been playing with the team from the province of North Brabant in the Oberliga Nord and won the German Oberliga championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

International

For the Netherlands van Oorschot took part in the Division II games of the U18 Junior World Championships in 2004 and 2005 and the U20 World Championships in 2006 and 2007 .

He made his debut for the men's national team at the Division I World Cup in 2006 . He also played with his national team in Division I at the World Championships in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2014 and 2015 , where he finally scored his first goal in 2014 with the consolation goal at 1: 5 against Poland, not only in the seventh World Cup scored, but was also named the best player on his team. At the 2018 World Cup , he played in Division II and, as the second best preparer of the tournament after his compatriot Ivy van den Heuvel and second best scorer, together with his compatriot Giovanni Vogelaar, also after van den Heuvel, contributed significantly to the return of the Dutch to Division I.

In addition, van Oorschot also took part with the Dutch team in the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 , 2014 and 2018 Olympic Winter Games , without the Dutch being able to qualify.
