Julius Kühn (born April 1, 1993 in Duisburg ) is a German handball player . Since 2017 he has been playing for MT Melsungen in the left back space .
Career
society
Kühn began his handball career in 1999 at TV Aldekerk . In 2008 he switched to the next generation of the HSG Düsseldorf , with whose A-youth he became German A-youth champion in 2010. In the 2010/11 season he made four appearances in the HSG's first team. After the backcourt player was a fixture in the Düsseldorf second division team in the first half of the 2011/12 season , he moved to TUSEM Essen in January 2012 , where he was used both in the first team and in the youth team. At the end of the season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with TUSEM . For the 2014/15 season he moved to Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach , where he received a contract until 2016. This was then extended for another two years. In the summer of 2017, he left VfL prematurely for MT Melsungen .
National team
Kühn was a member of the German U18 national team at the 2010 European Championships in Montenegro. At the U19 World Cup, he finished in the top 10 of the overall scorers list and was seventh with Germany. Since 2011 he has been part of the U20 national team, with which he completed the 2011 World Cup in Argentina and the 2012 European Championship in Turkey. On September 9, 2014 national coach Dagur Sigurðsson Kühn appointed to the extended squad of the German national team . On September 20, 2014, he made his debut in Göppingen in a friendly against Switzerland . At the 2016 European Championships in Poland he was nominated for the last game of the main round after an injury by Christian Dissinger , and won the title with the team on January 31, 2016 with a 24:17 win over Spain in only his fifth international match. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won the bronze medal with the German team. For this success he was awarded the silver bay leaf on November 1, 2016. For the European Championship 2018 he was appointed by national coach Christian Prokop in the 20-man squad, who denies the preparation. On January 7th, he was appointed to the final 16-man squad and thus took part in the EM 2018. He has played 52 games so far in which he scored 166 goals. At the EM 2020 he was a regular player and was voted “Man of the Match” in the game for 5th place.
