history

The beginnings

An academy for social and commercial sciences had existed in Frankfurt since 1901. When the plan to found a university was being completed around 1910, the fresh forces to establish connections in Frankfurt am Main stirred. In the Philistine circle "Moenania", which existed since 1886, the proposal was made to establish a CV association. The proposal came from the old Mr. Johann Werthmann of the KDStV Hercynia Freiburg in the CV. This proposal was accepted. On January 23, 1913, the old men who were represented in the CV met for the first convention of the KDStV Hasso-Nassovia. In addition to Linz and Werthmann, the founding members included:

  1. Joseph Roeingh ( AV Zollern Münster )
  2. Karl Hermes ( KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau )
  3. Erich Krach ( KDStV Aenania Munich )
  4. Oskar Jahn ( KDStV Markomannia Würzburg )
  5. Ludwig Rauschner ( KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau )
  6. Leo Stahl ( KDStV Hohenstaufen Freiburg im Breisgau )

At the convent, the connection was named KDStV Hasso-Nassovia after the Hessen-Nassau region . The name of the connection gave the colors blue-white-orange (blue and orange for the Nassauer Land , connected by the white symbolizing the Main ). The architect Rummel designed the circle of connection and Johann Werthmann gave the connection the motto “ Strong in the law !”. At the same convent Leo Stahl was elected senior. On March 13, 1913, Leo Stahl, as a founding senior, hit the founding pub in the "Faust".

A letter was also sent to the university's senate for the licensing of the connection in order to be recognized as a student connection at the university. On March 4, 1913, despite several protests, the university received the letter of approval.

On May 15, 1913, Hasso-Nassovia applied for inclusion in the CV. The Munich connection KDStV Vindelicia to Munich in the CV, however, wore the same colors as the KDStV Hasso-Nassovia. After Hasso-Nassovia decided at the ECC (Extra-Cumulative-Convent) on July 10, 1913 to exchange their white for silver, the color dispute was settled and the KDStV Hasso-Nassovia at the 49th Cartel Assembly (CV) in Metz added to CV on August 15, 1913. As a further condition, the Hasso-Nassovia had to expand their white percussion of the band.

At the first foundation festival on 24./25. January 1914 the Hasso-Nassovia had 23 members. The first four boys could be made on the Kommers. A few days earlier, a Philistine Association had been founded, eight members joined and Joseph Arnold took over the leadership. (Siegfried Schieweck-Mauk, 1997, p. 377) In the summer semester of 1914 the colors were worn in public. The 14 liaison members appeared for the first time in Couleur on May 15, 1914 at the university.

First World War

Hasso-Nassovia had 13 war victims during the First World War , including two of the founding members: Erich Krack, who fell on January 29, 1915, and Karl Hermes, who fell in 1914. Despite the war, they wanted to hold out as much as possible. Füxe continued to be accepted, in the summer semester of 1916 there were 15 new members. Aktivitas had 28 students. For the winter semester of 1916/1917, “Bandcouleur” was worn again, and people moved to the weekly pub in the “Alemania” inn. On November 30, 1916, the CC decided to replace the hat with a striker. The Hasso-Nassovia had to leave the "Alemania" at the beginning of 1918 due to a lack of coal and moved to the "Stone House".

Weimar Republic

In mid-January 1919, Hasso-Nassovia was back in full color at the university. "In SS 1919 (May 4, 1919), Hasso-Nassovia reconstituted Badenia from Strasbourg by leaving several federal brothers to the connection that had been moved to Frankfurt." (Siegfried Schieweck-Mauk, 1997, p. 377) Three inactive people emerged from Hasso-Nassovia , six active and six foxes from Badenia to support. At the end of July 1919, Hasso-Nassovia moved into "the Mainwarte" in Wilhelmstrasse. In the winter semester of 1919/20 20 foxes could be received. In the same semester, efforts to reform the community led to the establishment of a liaison library. Scientific lectures were also given. As in the past, a circle of ladies' circles was also brought into being. At the CC on November 22, 1919, the old gentlemen's association was re-established under Philistine Senior Joseph Roeingh, and Hasso-Nassovia received new rules of procedure and a new comment. Of course, the years of inflation and the global economic crisis affected the life of the union. Nevertheless, Hasso-Nassovia founded a house building association in 1924, and on May 8, 1929 the new connection house at Westendplatz 35 was inaugurated.

time of the nationalsocialism

With the seizure of power of Hitler on 30 January 1933, the connection life was much more difficult. At the end of November 1935, the CC decided to continue the Aktivitas, but on April 25, 1936 the active connection life had to be discontinued, so that only the old rulers kept the connection alive. The active members were transferred to the old rulers as special members. But the old rule was finally dissolved with the "Himmler Decree" in June 1938. “The Gestapo carried out house searches and confiscated the connection files. The house was finally sold and the inventory was placed with the Federal Brothers, which saved a lot of the Second World War . ”(Siegfried Schieweck-Mauk, 1997, p. 378) Of course, the Federal Brothers tried to stay in contact with each other.

Federal brother and pastor Konrad Trageser died in 1942 in the Dachau concentration camp , where he had been put in "protective custody" for a sermon. Twelve other Confederate Brothers died in the war.

The re-establishment

On September 1, 1946, the federal brothers met at the “Krokodil” to re-establish the old rulership of Hasso-Nassovia. Eugen Helfrich, who held office until 1959, was elected as the first Philistine senior of the post-war period. He was also the first post-war mayor of Frankfurt am Main. Only on December 8, 1946 could the official re-establishment take place with the approval letter from the Allied authorities.

On July 20, 1947, the 34th Foundation Festival, the first Foundation Festival after the Second World War, was celebrated. It took place under difficult conditions: “Every meeting had to be approved, and to have a warm room you had to bring firewood. It was important to indicate the tram connections, and for lunch after the service ... you had to bring food stamps (50 g meat, 5 g fat)! ”(KDStV Hasso-Nassovia (ed.), 75 years KDStV Hasso-Nassovia in the CV, 1913– 1988, 1988, p. 14)

The house on Westendplatz was bombed and the proceeds from the forced sale fell victim to inflation. In 1948 an Aktivitas was established again. On May 4, 1949, the connection was again licensed by the University of Frankfurt.

Further development to the present

In the 1950s, the KDStV Greiffenstein came to Breslau in Frankfurt. On May 6, 1950, Greiffenstein and five guys from Hasso-Nassovia were able to announce their re-establishment in Frankfurt. The connection life took place in different rooms in Frankfurt. This included the infirmary, the stock exchange cellar and the connecting floor in the Große Eschenheimer Gasse at “Max Leicher”. The Exkneipe took place in "Moog beer bar" in Niederau.

The number of members of Hasso-Nassovia continued to rise, so that in 1955 it had 216 old men and 107 active members. Because of this, the association has decided to establish a subsidiary in Frankfurt with the KDStV Moeno-Franconia. In 1956, Hasso-Nassovia donated a coat of arms memorial window for its dead in Frankfurt Cathedral. In 1961, the Hasso-Nassovia Student House Association acquired a fraternity house in Oeder Weg 164, which was inaugurated on May 26, 1962. The connection still has its domicile there.

In the 2008/09 winter semester it was decided that the senior citizens of the KDStV Hasso-Nassovia and its subsidiary KDStV Moeno-Franconia should wear the ribbon of the other connection as an official ribbon across their chests as a sign of their solidarity.

In January 2013 the association celebrated its centenary in Bad Homburg Castle . The hundredth foundation festival followed in June, which mainly took place in Offenbach am Main .

Hasso Nassovia Circle

Circle

Fellowship students use the circle as a signature or an abbreviation to identify their affiliation. The circle is a color student monogram of the five letters V, C, F, H and N as well as an exclamation mark. The letters stand for “Vivat crescat floreatque Hasso-Nassovia” (Hasso-Nassovia live, grow and prosper). An older interpretation is "Vivat circulus fratrum Hasso-Nassoviae" (Long live the circle of the brothers of Hasso-Nassovia). The exclamation mark stands for “in aeternum” (Latin for “forever”) and means that the connection still has an active part.

The House

The liaison house now houses up to seven active students and has two large common rooms that are used for liaison events such as lectures or couleur student festivities and as study rooms.

The house on Westendplatz acquired in 1929 was completely bombed in World War II and not rebuilt after 1945. Until the purchase of the current house in Frankfurt's Nordend in 1962, the Hasso-Nassoven met in various constants in Frankfurt.

Active students

At the moment there are around 20 active students who are properly enrolled or are doing their legal clerkship. While only a few receptions were recorded in the 1990s, the number of new members has been stable since the mid-2000s. The Management Board of Aktivitas which batches or Chargierten , is like almost all links of the Cartellverbandes from the senior (x), Consenior (xx), Fuchs Major (FM), Librarian (xxx) and Quaestor (xxxx).
