Kalayathumkuzhi Mathews Beenamol (born August 15, 1975 in Kombidinjal, Idukki District , Kerala ) is a former Indian athlete .
Career
Beenamol also made history with her brother KM Binu when they became the first Indian siblings to win medals in a major international competition. Binu won a silver medal in the men's 800m race .
Olympic games
At the 2000 Summer Olympics Beenamol was largely unknown until the third Indian woman after PT Usha and Shiny Wilson , who at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles almost the same performance over 400m hurdles and on the 800 m achieved, an Olympic Reached semi-finals.
Asian Games
At the 2002 Asian Games in Busan , she won the women's 800m gold medal and the women's 4- × 400m relay.

Awards
Beenamol received the Arjuna Award in 2000 for her exemplary performance in her athletic career . Together with Anjali Ved Pathak Bhagwat, she is also the joint winner of India's highest sports award, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2002-2003. In 2004 she was awarded the Padma Shri .

KM Beenamol is married to pathologist Vivek George and has two children.
