Nirmala Sheoran gained her first international experience at the 2013 Asian Championships in Pune , where she finished seventh in the 400 meter final. In addition, she won the gold medal in the Indian 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 32.26 minutes. With the relay she then took part in the World Championships in Moscow and was eliminated there with 3: 38.81 min in the preliminary round. In 2016 she qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the first round with 53.03 s . Even with the season she could not qualify for the final with 3: 29.53 min . In 2017 she won the gold medal in the individual competition as well as with the Indian relay at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in 52.01 seconds. She received a bye for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated with 53.07 s in the semifinals . With the relay she was disqualified in advance .
In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , finishing fourth there with 52.96 s. In October 2019, she was banned from the Athletics Integrity Unit for four years for taking the banned substance drostanolone , and her results were canceled between August 15, 2016 and November 21, 2018.
