Nguyễn Thị Oanh (born February 22, 1996 in Hanoi ) is a Vietnamese athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Nguyễn Thị Oanh gained her first experience in international competitions in 2011 when she finished fourth in the 400-meter run in 55.36 s and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 60.61 s at the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang . In addition, she won the bronze medal behind the teams from Thailand and Indonesia with the Vietnamese 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 45.0 minutes. In 2013 she took part in the 400 meter World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she finished fourth in the final with 53.80 seconds. Then she won at the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw in 24.13 s the bronze medal in the 200-meter run behind her compatriot V bei Thị Hương and Neeranuch Klomdee from Thailand. Also over 400 meters she won the bronze medal in 53.71 seconds behind the Thai Treewadee Yongphan and her compatriot Quách Thị Lan and with the relay she secured the silver medal behind Thailand with a new national record of 3: 36.92 minutes. The following year she took part with the relay at the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , where she finished fifth with 3: 33.20 minutes in the final. At the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 2015 , she reached eighth place in the 100-meter run in 12.02 s and won the bronze medal over 200 meters in 23.92 s behind the Singaporean Shanti Pereira and Kayla Anise Richardson from the Philippines. In addition, she won the season with a new player record of 3: 31.46 min.

In 2017 she took part with the relay at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , where she originally won the silver medal behind the team from India in 3: 33.22 minutes. However, the Indian team was subsequently disqualified for a doping violation and the gold medal was awarded to Vietnam. At the end of August she won the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in 3: 33.40 min with the relay. The following year she won the bronze medal with the Vietnamese relay in 3: 33.23 minutes at the Asian Games in Jakarta, behind the teams from India and Bahrain. At the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 , she was eliminated in the first round over 200 meters with 25.07 s and finished fifth in the relay in 3: 37.27 minutes. In December she won the Southeast Asian Games in Capas in 3: 34.64 minutes again with the relay.

In 2013, Nguyễn was Vietnamese champion in the 200 and 400 meters and with the 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2017 she secured the titles over 1500 and 5000 meters as well as in the obstacle course . In 2019 she won over 1500 meters and 5000 meters as well as in the obstacle course and in the 4 x 400 meter relay.
