Sayaka Aoki ( Japanese 青木 沙弥 佳 , Aoki Sayaka; born December 15, 1986 in Gifu Prefecture ) is a Japanese hurdler who specializes in the 400-meter distance and especially the Japanese 4-by-400-meter -Season could celebrate successes.

Athletic career

Sayaka Aoki gained her first international experience at the 2007 Asian Championships in the Jordanian capital Amman , where she finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles and won the silver medal with the Japanese 4 x 400 meter relay. On the other hand, she was eliminated in the hurdles run at the student world games in Bangkok . With the Japanese relay she also took part in the World Championships in Osaka , but could not qualify for the final there. A year later she took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing , but did not reach the final there either . In 2009 she qualified for the World Championships in Berlin , but retired there in the hurdles and with the Japanese relay in the first round. At the Asian Championships in Guangzhou , however, she was seventh in the hurdles.

In 2010 she took part in the Asian Games and finished fourth in the relay. At the Asian Championships 2011 in Kobe , where she reached fourth place over 400 meters and won the gold medal with the relay was her greatest success so far. Two years later, she won the bronze medal with the relay at the Asian Championships in Pune . At the East Asian Games in Tianjin she won silver in the hurdles and with the relay. In 2015 she was second with the season in the B-final of the IAAF World Relays 2015 in the Bahamas . At the 2015 Asian Championships in Wuhan , she was sixth over 400 m and finished fourth in the relay. At the World Championships in Beijing she again failed to reach the final with the Japanese relay. Two years later she won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneshwar in hurdles and with the relay. At the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 , she was eliminated with 59.43 s in the first round.

In 2015, Aoki became Japanese champion in the 400-meter run and in 2017 over 400 m hurdles.
