The Albanian government under Prime Minister Edi Rama from 2013 to 2017 is referred to as the Rama Cabinet . She replaced the Berisha II cabinet , which had held the same office since 2009.
As a result of the parliamentary elections on June 23, 2013 , the Socialist Party (PS) together with its coalition partners formed the government in Albania . The party leader Edi Rama became prime minister. The coalition partner Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) initially headed five of 19 ministries. A novelty was the highest proportion of women in an Albanian government with six women ministers. In addition, with Mimi Kodheli , the Ministry of Defense was headed by a woman for the first time, and in the end Ledina Mandija was Albania's first deputy prime minister.
The party leader of the socialists Edi Rama presented on July 31, 2013 the list with the names of the ministers and their allocation. Rama was sworn in as Prime Minister on September 10, 2013 by the head of state Bujar Nishani . The new government, the Rama I cabinet, was sworn in on September 15, 2013.
Restructuring
After Erion Veliaj , who ran as mayoral candidate for Tirana, left the government, Blendi Klosi was accepted into the cabinet in May 2015 . Other changes included, for example, the transfer of responsibility for tourism from Eglantina Gjermeni to Arben Ahmetaj . In November 2015, Ylli Manjani replaced Justice Minister Nasip Naço in his office. In February 2016, Shkëlqim Cani resigned; he was replaced by Arben Ahmetaj, whose duties were taken over by Milva Ekonomi . At the beginning of September 2016, Sokol Dervishaj was appointed as the new Minister for Transport and Infrastructure to replace Edmond Haxhinasto . In January 2017, LSI's Petrit Vasili became the new finance minister after a disagreement between Ylli Manaj and Rama. Another castling took place in March 2017, when four new ministerial posts were filled, including the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health. The reason for the change was that the most important people in the party should have more time for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
In spring 2017, the Democratic Party boycotted parliament and the presidential election for 90 days and did not nominate candidates for the upcoming parliamentary election because it did not expect fair and free elections under the current government. They could not enforce their demand for a resignation from the government, but under pressure from international mediators a compromise was reached, which resulted in the postponement of the parliamentary elections by a week, several reforms in the electoral process and the formation of a kind of "technical government" through the appointment of seven independent ministers the opposition provided. On May 22, the new Deputy Prime Minister Ledina Mandija and Dritan Demiraj as Minister of the Interior, Helga Vukaj as Minister of Finance, Gazment Bardhi as Minister of Justice, Xhulieta Kërtusha as Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Mirela Karabina as Minister of Education and Sport and Arben Beqiri as Minister of Health confirmed by the President of Albania.
