Channel 9 is an advertising-financed private television channel from Sweden , which today for Discovery Inc. belongs. The station started on February 25, 2007 and sends its signal from England .

The program consists of sports broadcasts, documentaries, series and films and is aimed at the target group of 30 to 59 year olds, which is slightly above the age group of the sister station Kanal 5 .

Channel 9 uses the frequency that was previously occupied by ONE Television . Part of the license was that “News from the European Union and programs from various European channels” had to be part of the program. Various French and German programs and the European Journal news program ran on ONE in order to comply with the clause. This sparked controversy when SBS stated that Channel 9 will have news on its program and thus may be in violation of its license.
