Discovery Geschichte was a television station of the worldwide Discovery group that was broadcast digitally via satellite and cable as part of Premiere's program package . It started broadcasting on March 31, 2005, the station was discontinued on May 16, 2009 and from now on only exists as a window program on DMAX .
This channel of the Discovery group focused on documentaries from the field of history . German and international productions on history from antiquity to the present as well as current affairs were broadcast . The program was organized by Discovery Communications Deutschland GmbH, based in Munich . Program collaborations existed with Spiegel TV and the BBC .
The discontinuation of Discovery Story at Premiere led to the direct launch of the National Geographic Channel within the Premiere platform. In Switzerland, Teleclub has replaced the channel with Romance TV .
The sister station Animal Planet also left Premiere at the beginning of July 2009 when Premiere AG was discontinued in its previous form and renamed Sky Deutschland AG .
