The Canton Tinchebray was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement of Argentan , in Orne and the region Basse-Normandie ; his main town was Tinchebray-Bocage , and Jérôme Nury was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2004 to 2015. The canton was 156.28 km² and had 8,290 inhabitants (1999), which corresponded to a population density of 53 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 242 meters above sea level , between 106 m in Saint-Pierre-d'Entremont and 367 m in Saint-Christophe-de-Chaulieu .

Former parishes
The following municipalities, which no longer exist today, were located in the canton of Tinchebray:
- Beauchêne , Frênes , Larchamp , Saint-Cornier-des-Landes , Saint-Jean-des-Bois , Tinchebray and Yvrandes merged on January 1, 2015 to form the new municipality of Tinchebray-Bocage .
- Clairefougère and Montsecret merged on January 1, 2015 to form the new municipality of Montsecret-Clairefougère .
