Karl Del'Haye (born August 18, 1955 in Aachen ), usually called "Calle" or "Kalle", is a former German football player .

Career

Karl Del'Haye went through all youth departments of Alemannia Aachen from the age of seven to eighteen and in 1973 received a licensed player contract for the Regionalliga West . He belonged to the selection team of the Landesverband Mittelrhein , which won the national cup for amateurs in 1974 1-0 against the selection team of the Landesverband Westfalen . After this season he was signed by Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach , for whom he made four appearances in his first Bundesliga season. He made his debut on September 10, 1974 (3rd matchday). In the 3-1 home win over Tennis Borussia Berlin , he came on for Jupp Heynckes in the 61st minute . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on September 11, 1976 (5th matchday) to make it 3-1 in the home game against Werder Bremen . He also played six games in the DFB Cup , 29 in the European Cup competitions and one in the World Cup .

Before the 1980/81 season , Del'Haye moved to Bayern Munich for the then record transfer fee of 1.3 million Deutschmarks . There he was often on the bench under coach Pál Csernai , making him a prime example of the accusation that FC Bayern Munich was luring players away from competitors in order to weaken them without needing the players. The 1983 change of coach to Udo Lattek did not improve Del'Haye's sporting prospects at Bayern either.

His move to Fortuna Düsseldorf before the 1985/86 season brought him no luck: In two Bundesliga years he had no hits in a total of 23 appearances. He played his last Bundesliga game on June 17, 1987 (34th matchday) at 2-2 in Bochum , when he came on for Rudolf Wojtowicz in the 81st minute . In the 1987/88 season he let his active football career end with Lobbericher SC 02 .

National team

Del'Haye played eleven times in the DFB youth team, the first time on September 14, 1973 in Herford in the 1-0 win against Finland and the last time on April 3, 1974 in Pitesti in the 0-2 defeat against Romania. From November 14 to 19, 1973 he took part with the youth team in the tournament for the Prince Albert Cup in Monte Carlo , which won him 4-1 on penalties in the final against Belgium's selection . In the previous game, in the 5-1 victory over Ireland on November 17, 1973, he had scored his first two goals in the national shirt.

On November 14, 1978 Del'Haye was appointed to the B national team for the first time ; in Karlsruhe, Hungary was defeated 3-0. He scored his first goal for the B selection on May 14, 1980 in Kassel, when Poland was defeated 2-1. He played the last of his six B internationals on May 21, 1981 in Bremen, when the Irish senior team was defeated 3-0 and he contributed a goal.

On April 2, 1980 Del'Haye made his debut in the senior team . In the 1-0 win against Austria , he came on in the 71st minute for Klaus Allofs . His second and last game took place during the 1980 European Championship in Italy , when he came on for Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the 66th minute of the last group game against Greece (0-0) and won the title of European Champion at the end of the tournament . Together with the other team members, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Carstens in 1980 .

1983 Del'Haye was appointed three times to the Olympic team.

After that

After the end of his playing career, Del'Haye was co-operator of a sports travel company for 15 years, which organized a football school for children on the Costa Brava . In addition, he acquired a coaching license for professional football, without later working as a coach.
