Karl Friedrich Gottlieb von Schladen (born April 29, 1730 in Aschersleben , † October 29, 1806 in Halberstadt ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of the infantry regiment named after him "von Schladen" and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

His father was Colonel Hans Christoph von Schladen (* December 31, 1693; † January 16, 1744) and commander of the regiment on horseback "Anhalt-Dessau" . His mother was his father's first wife Helene Louise Freiin Spiegel zum Desenberg († July 2, 1731). After his mother's accidental death, his father married Charlotte Eleonore von Trotha on November 28, 1734 (* March 13, 1707; † March 27, 1744).

Military career

In 1747, Schladen joined the "Alt-Württemberg" fusilier regiment as a private corporal . In 1750 he was transferred to the “Brandenburg-Schwedt” regiment on foot . There he became ensign on February 14, 1751 , second lieutenant on August 29, 1755 and in 1757 prime lieutenant . On October 26, 1761 he became a staff captain and received his own company on April 15, 1762 . On October 22, 1776 he was promoted to major and March 4, 1787 to lieutenant colonel . On June 5, 1788 he became a colonel and regimental commander.

Schladen fought in the Seven Years War and the War of the Bavarian Succession . In the latter he acquired the Pour le Mérite in the battle near Neustadt, which he received on March 3, 1779 from Friedrich II . After the war he was stationed in Nuremberg between 1781 and 1784 , from where he coordinated advertising in the Reich. He got this post because after the guard parade with the governor of Berlin Lieutenant General Friedrich Ehrenreich von Ramin , the somewhat rough general drove a little into the parade of the then major and got too close to himself. The major then advised the general: Take care, your Excellency, that my horse does not hit you in the face . He was then transferred to the said post. Nevertheless, Frederick II later designated him as one of his pallbearers. Furthermore, the coffin was carried by Oberste Reineck , Bandemer, Pritzelwitz, Wachholz, Moller , Dobschütz and Wolffradt .

In the First Coalition War he formed the head of the Hohenlohe Corps as major general and head of the "Schladen Infantry Regiment" named after him . After the Peace of Basel he was stationed in Minden . There he was appointed lieutenant general in May 1798. In September 1804 he was adopted. He received a pension of 2000 thalers from the king and retired to Halberstadt, where he died in 1806.
