Karl Ludwig von Pritzelwitz (born March 5, 1785 in Potsdam ; † January 6, 1852 there ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Prussian major Johann Friedrich von Pritzelwitz (1757–1843) and his wife Dorothea Luise, née Teichert (1768–1850).

Military career

Pritzelwitz visited the Berlin Cadet House from April 1797 and was employed on March 28, 1802 as an ensign in the Infantry Regiment "von Courbière" of the Prussian Army . There he was promoted to Second Lieutenant in April 1804 and took part in the defense of Danzig against the French during the Fourth Coalition War in 1806/07 . At the beginning of the Wars of Liberation Pritzelwitz came to the 1st Reserve Battalion in the 2nd West Prussian Infantry Regiment . Shortly afterwards he was transferred to the 7th Reserve Infantry Regiment with the promotion to Prime Lieutenant . With this association Pritzelwitz took part in the blockades of Glogau and Erfurt , fought in the battles near Bautzen , Kulm and Montmirail . He was wounded in the Battle of Dresden and Pritzelwitz was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for Leipzig . On April 10, 1815, he was promoted to captain and appointed company commander. In this capacity he fought in the battles at Ligny and Waterloo .

After the peace treaty Pritzelwitz rose to major in June 1825 and was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 13th Landwehr Regiment. From July 21, 1836 to March 29, 1839, he was employed as a battalion commander in the 8th Infantry Regiment (called Leib-Infanterie-Regiment) . Subsequently promoted to lieutenant colonel, Pritzelwitz was commissioned to lead the 26th Infantry Regiment in Magdeburg . On January 28, 1840 he was appointed regimental commander and on September 10, 1840 he was promoted to colonel . With the award of the Red Eagle Order III. Pritzelwitz was put up for disposal on March 11, 1843 with the character of major general and the statutory pension .

family

Pritzelwitz had married Henriette von Krohn (1794–1879) in Berlin on September 29, 1814 . She was the daughter of the later Prussian major general Johann von Krohn . From the marriage two daughters and the son Karl Johann Ferdinand (1823–1846) emerged.
