Karl Wiebel (born December 3, 1908 in Unterhaching ; † July 28, 1985 in Sulzberg ) was a German lawyer , politician and Lord Mayor of the Bavarian cities of Freising and Kaufbeuren .

Life

Wiebel, who was born in Unterhaching, attended secondary schools in Wasserburg am Inn and Rosenheim , in order to then study in Munich . The doctor of law worked there as a lawyer from 1936. After the Second World War, in which he served as a soldier, he settled in Freising. There he was elected mayor by the city council on June 17, 1946. His term of office in Freising only lasted 2 years because his re-election in 1948 failed. On July 1, 1948, the lawyer Max Lehner was elected as his successor .

Wiebel then applied for the post of mayor in Kaufbeuren. The incumbent Georg Volkhardt had gone to Kempten as Lord Mayor . On August 11, 1948, Wiebel was elected as his successor. During his tenure, the population rose sharply due to the influx of many displaced people. He was confirmed in office in 1952, 1958 and 1964. After 22 years, he handed over the office to his successor Rudolf Krause on April 30, 1970.

Wiebel lived in Sulzberg in Oberallgäu until his death.
