Karl Friedrich Ferdinand Freiherr von Willisen (born December 21, 1788 in Staßfurt , † April 22, 1873 in Dessau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Karl was a son of the mayor of Staßfurt Karl Wilhelm von Willisen (1751-1807) and his wife Friederike, née von Trotha (1768-1826). The later Prussian lieutenant general Karl Wilhelm von Willisen (1790–1879) was his younger brother. On April 29, 1866, the family received Prussian permission to reapply and use the title of baron.

Military career

On June 1, 1799, Willisen joined the infantry regiment of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia as a private corporal . As an ensign he was wounded during the Fourth Coalition War in the battle of Auerstedt and dimitted after the peace of Tilsit . He then entered the Saxon service as a second lieutenant in April 1808 and was employed in the Chevauleger regiment "von Polenz" before Willisen came to the Leib-Cuirassier regiment in June 1811 as prime lieutenant . In 1813 he was promoted to divisional adjutant and in the same year took part in the siege of Magdeburg during the wars of liberation and in 1815, now on the side of the Allies against Napoleon , in the battle near Namur .

On August 7, 1815, Willisen rejoined the Prussian Army and was employed in the 4th Cuirassier Regiment . From mid-July 1817 to the end of March 1829 he had various assignments as an adjutant and was then appointed as Rittmeister to the squadron chief in the 2nd Guards Uhlan Regiment . Shortly thereafter, Willisen returned to the 7th Cuirassier Regiment, advanced to major at the end of March 1831 and moved up to the regimental staff at the beginning of May 1834. On March 30, 1839, he was initially assigned to lead the 9th Hussar Regiment in Saarbrücken and on January 20, 1840, Willisen was appointed regimental commander. Promoted to lieutenant colonel in this position in mid-September 1841 , he was transferred to Halberstadt as commander of the 7th Cuirassier Regiment on April 7, 1842 and advanced to colonel at the end of March 1844 . This was followed by a post as commander of the 2nd Cavalry Brigade in Danzig from June 11, 1846 . In this position Willisen was awarded Major General on April 4, 1850 and at the end of July 1853 with the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. Under awarding of the character as Lieutenant General he took his on April 1, 1854 farewell with board .

family

Willisen had married Albertine von Köller (1787-1825) on February 3, 1817 in Jasenitz . After her death, he married Luise von Haugwitz (1801–1827) in Berlin on February 15, 1827 . In his third marriage, Willisen married Luise von Trotha (1803–1877) on September 20, 1829 in Hecklingen . The following children emerged from the marriages:

  • Albert Ferdinand Adolf Wilhelm (1825–1867)
  • Friederike Wilhelmine Mathilde Luise (* 1830)
  • Friedrich Ernst Adolf (1830–1879), Prussian colonel and commander of the 1st Guard Dragoons Regiment
