Katerynopil (Ukrainian Катеринопіль ; Russian Катеринополь / Katerinopol , Polish formerly Kalnibłoty ) is an urban-type settlement in Cherkassy Oblast in the middle of Ukraine .

The place is the center of the raion of the same name and lies on the Hnylyj Tikytsch .

It was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1568, when Cossacks settled here . These took part in the Khmelnytskyi uprising . Until 1793 the place was in the aristocratic republic of Poland , after which it came to the Russian Empire, while the place was renamed in 1795 in Jekaterinopol or later Katerynopil / Katerinpol.

After an administrative reform in 1923, Katerynopil became the center of a newly created Rajon, and since 1965 the place has also had the status of an urban-type settlement .
