Talne ( Ukrainian Тальне ; Russian Тальное Talnoje ) is a small town in Cherkassy Oblast in Ukraine with 13,300 inhabitants (2019) and the administrative center of Talne Raion .
Geographical location
The city is located 142 km southwest of the Cherkassy Oblast Center in the valley of the Hirskyi Tikytsch River and extends over the adjacent plateau.
history
Talne has had city status since 1938. During World War II , almost the entire Jewish population of the city, who made up about half of Talne's residents, was murdered by the SS and Ukrainian collaborators .
From 1975 to 1979 there was a construction site on the Druzhba route , with construction workers from the GDR building a compressor station, several apartment blocks, a department store, a school and a kindergarten.
