Katherine Sian Moennig (born December 29, 1977 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress .

Life

Moennig comes from a well-known family of artists in Hollywood . Her mother, Mary Zahn, is a former Broadway dancer who has appeared in films such as Funny Girl and Thoroughly Modern Millie ; her father William H. Moennig had a violin making workshop and her grandfather William Moennig comes from the German town of Markneukirchen . She is the cousin of Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow , her uncle is film producer Bruce Paltrow , and her aunt is fellow actor Blythe Danner. Moennig's acting career began in 1987 at a theater workshop for children. She wrote an improvised version of Winnie the Pooh , which was subsequently performed at the Philadelphia Free Library under her direction and participation.
