Keke Palmer (* 26. August 1993 in Harvey , Illinois as Lauren Keyana Palmer ) is an American actress , voice actress and singer .

Life

Her father works in a car factory and her mother is a high school teacher. Palmer has three siblings. She started singing in the church choir when she was five and sang for the musical The Lion King when she was nine .

Keke Palmer made her actress debut in 2004 in the movie Barbershop 2 . There she played the role of Gina's niece. From 2004 to 2006 she was in various television series such as Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forget , Strong Medicine , Emergency Room - Die Notaufnahme and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . She then worked on two more films in 2006, Madea's Family Reunion and Akeelah Is the Greatest , in which Palmer starred . From 2008 to 2010 she starred in the Nickelodeon series True Jackson .

As of June 2014, Palmer hosted her own talk show called Just Keke . The show aired in 20 episodes over four weeks.

Keke Palmer also pursues a singing career. In 2003 she took part in the American Juniors singing competition , an American Idol spin-off , but the show was discontinued early. Her debut album So Uncool was released in 2007 and reached the bottom of the US R&B charts.

In 2011 and 2012 she released the mixtapes Awaken and Keke Palmer , with which Palmer wants to give a foretaste of the musical direction for her second official album. A publication date has not yet been set. Palmer is also regularly featured on the soundtracks of the films in which she has participated.

As of September 2014, Palmer played Cinderella in the Broadway play of the same name for 134 shows . This role was first cast on Broadway with an African-American actress.

In November 2019, Keke Palmer was chosen as the embodiment of the virtual character Senna from League of Legends to represent the band "True Damage" with Thutmose , Soyeon from (G) I-DLE , Becky G and Duckwrth . Her song GIANTS , released at the same time as a debut single, was played live in the final of the World Cup.
