Keriam ( Malay Mukim Keriam ) is a Mukim ( sub- district) of the Daerah Tutong in Brunei . The Mukim is subordinate to a Penghulu . The incumbent is currently (2018) Muhammad Taha bin Abdul Rauf .

geography

The Mukim forms the northeast corner of the district on the coast of the South China Sea . It borders the Mukim Kiudang and Pekan Tutong in the south and west, and the Mukim Sengkurong and Pengkalan Batu in the Brunei-Muara district in the east and south-east, respectively. The Kuala Belait Highway initially runs along the coast and then crosses the Mukim deeper inland.

Administrative division

The Mukim is divided into villages (Kampong):

However, the Tutong District Office only manages the six villages of Bukit Panggal, Keriam, Kupang, Luagan Dudok, Sinaut and Sungai Kelugos. These villages are represented by their own ketua kampung (local chief). Maraburong and Ikas do not have their own ketua kampung.

Kampong Keriam

Kampung Keriam (postcode TB1141) is the eponymous village in Mukim. The ketua kampung is currently Morshidi bin Mahadi . The place has about 1,800 inhabitants.

The Jalan Tutong is the main artery connecting the village with Luagan Dudok in the east and with Panchor Papan in the west. There is a primary school (Keriam Primary School) and in the same building the Keriam Religious School for Muslim students.

The Kampong Keriam Mosque serves devout Muslims primarily for Friday prayers (Jumu'ah).
