Berakas 'A' ( Malay Mukim Berakas A ) is a Mukim (sub-district) of the Daerah Brunei-Muara in Brunei . As one of the northernmost districts, it lies on the coast of the South China Sea .

geography

Berakas A is located on the north coast of Brunei and borders the Mukim Mentiri , Berakas B (in the east), Kianggeh (south), Gadong B (southwest) and Gadong A (west). Berakas A is administered by a Penghulu (chief); the incumbent is Abdul Ahmad bin Husain . In 2011 the Mukim had a population of 31,180. The Brunei International Airport is located in the Mukim area and the Berakas Forest Reserve (Hutan Simpan Berakas) is located on the eastern border . The main artery is the Muara-Tutong Highway .

Well-known rivers are Sungai Sebunyak , Sungai Mangsalut and in the hinterland Sungai Tebabang .

Administrative division

Berakas A was only separated from Berakas B as an independent Mukim during the reign of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah . The mukim is divided into kampung (villages). The following list contains the names of the sub-locations:
