Kilpenburg

The Kilpenburg is an Outbound Spur castle in Won Castle parking above the Kilpenbach in Simonswald -Obersimonswald in the district of Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg .

history

There is no reliable information about the history of the castle. In the second version of the Rotulus Sanpetrinus from the early 13th century, a castle stable is mentioned, which can possibly be identified with that of Kilpenburg, but more likely with the Dreistegen castle stable in Gütenbach .

description

In the northeast of the castle is a six meter wide and up to 3.5 meter deep neck ditch . In the northeastern part of the complex there could have been a tower on an area of around forty square meters, on the slightly sloping mountain spur to the southwest, further small buildings would then be conceivable, all presumably made of wood.

The Burgstelle is comparable to the Burgstall Schlossbühl in Elzach - Yach and the Burgstall am Galgenbühl in Kirchzarten -Burg.
