Klauss (born March 1, 1997 in Criciúma ; full name João Klauss de Mello ) is a Brazilian - Italian soccer player of German descent who is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

Career

Klauss at HJH Helsinki (2018)

Klauss joined early 2017 from the offspring of Gremio in the second team of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . By the end of the 2016/17 season , he played 7 times in the fourth-class Regionalliga Südwest and scored one goal. In the 2017/18 season , Klauss made 17 appearances until March 2018, in which he scored 4 goals.

In March 2018, Klauss switched to the Finnish first division club HJK Helsinki on loan until the end of the 2018 season . He was used in all 33 league games and scored 21 goals, making him top scorer and contributing significantly to winning the championship. For his achievements, Klauss was voted the best player in the Veikkausliiga.

At the beginning of January 2019, Klauss extended his contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim until June 30, 2022 and switched to the Austrian Bundesliga club LASK for a year and a half . By the end of the 2018/19 season , Klauss had a total of 14 Bundesliga appearances (12 times from the start) under head coach Oliver Glasner , in which he scored 3 goals. He scored all goals in his 10 appearances in the championship group, in which LASK qualified as runner-up for the third qualifying round of the Champions League . In the 2019/20 season , Klauss made 28 Bundesliga appearances (15 times from the start) under Glasner's successor Valérien Ismaël , in which he scored 12 goals. He then left LASK when his contract ended.

For the season 2020/21 returned Klauss for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim back and has since been a first team squad of Sebastian Hoeneß .
