action

Peter Kolle is a small employee. Although their financial circumstances are not the best, he has a happy marriage with his wife Sabine. At night he secretly tinkers with his invention , a muffler for motorcycles. When his wife finds out that he has broken the promise made to her brother Alphons at the wedding to give up inventing, she goes to her brother in Berlin, disappointed and angry. Alphons also has all the papers on the inventions that have already been started.

But soon Sabine is longing for Peter and she is drawn back home. Peter, who feels the same way, has meanwhile made his way to Berlin to see his brother-in-law Alphons. After some back and forth, however, they meet again. Since Peter can't help it, he tries to advance his invention and so next invents an inheritance from America. His wife is happy about this news and an invitation from Director Tschoppe also leads to this event. From director Magus, whom Peter met there, he received 600 marks for the exploitation of his invention. Magu's wife, however, reveals the hoax, which means that Peter is resigned without notice . But Sabine does not remain idle and with her presence of mind worries about the planning documents and immediately registers Peter's invention with the patent office . Now director Magus is also satisfied and Peter gets his chance to show what he's really made of.
