history
The first written mention of the place goes back to the year 1204 "Chubingen". Two row graves discovered in the 5th century, however, suggest a very long history. In 1342 the Pauline monastery Rohrhalden was founded as a hermitage of the Pauline hermits south of the village . The monastery flourished and declined over the centuries until it was dissolved in 1748 and demolished in the 19th century.
In the 1970s, a working group led by Utz Jeggle from the Institute for Empirical Cultural Studies at the University of Tübingen used the example of Kiebingen to research social history and the process of civilization in rural communities. Kiebingen is one of the best researched villages in Germany.
On December 1, 1971, Kiebingen was incorporated into the city of Rottenburg am Neckar.

The Rottenburger watch factory Junghans has operated its own power plant since 1903 , which still produces electricity today. For the watch factory, the power plant powered by water and steam was oversized, so that the excess electricity was sold.

education
Kiebingen has a mixed-grade elementary school in which classes 1/3 and 2/4 are taught together. Since 2016 this has been called "Rohrhaldenschule Kiebingen".
