Conference of the Animals is a computer-animated cartoon that was released in German cinemas on October 7, 2010.

After Curt Linda's animated film The Conference of Animals from 1969, it is the second film whose content is based on the theses of the novel The Conference of Animals by Erich Kästner .

action

In the African savannah , the animals are amazed because the water no longer comes through the great gorge as usual. The thirst for water increases, so that there is a dispute over the last drop of water. Buffalo and rhinoceros defend the only waterhole. Because of this, Socrates the vegetarian lion and Billy the clumsy meerkat set out to find water. Here they meet the Gallic rooster Charles, who brought a Tasmanian devil, a kangaroo, a polar bear and two Galapagos turtles to Africa, as they had to flee from their destroyed native regions and hope for a new, better life in the Okavango Delta .

But here, too, the people have struck: the hotel owner Smith has had a huge dam built for the water supply to his hotel , which now stops the flow of water into the savannah. A conference for a better environment is taking place in this very hotel. At first, the animal visitors are enthusiastic about the enormous water supply in can form and the huge swimming pool, but soon they meet the head of security of the hotel, a weapons expert named Hunter. Socrates is horrified when he recognizes him as the hunter who killed his brother Mambo at the time. The animal hotel servant, the chimpanzee Toto, tries to hide the group from Hunter. Maya, the daughter of the hotel manager, is also on the side of the wild animals. Despite all caution, Socrates is caught and his friends are driven from the hotel. They do not want to accept that and in turn call a conference: the conference of animals . The big and small animals of the savannah gather and decide to take action against human injustice. They all pull in the direction of the hotel and the stubborn buffaloes join in at the end. There they defeat the hunter Hunter, who repeatedly tries to stop the animals by force, ends the environmental conference of the people and finally bring the dam to collapse with united forces. So the water flows back into the savannah. The animals celebrate their victory exuberantly in the green savannah.

After this success, the animals move to New York with the help of the whales, where a climate conference is currently taking place . They besiege the entire city and remind people that they are not alone on this planet.
