Friedrich Arthur Konstantin Baron (born September 3, 1842 in Lehnhaus ; † January 10, 1922 in Visselhövede ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Konstantin was the son of the Prussian captain and tenant von Kanterwitz Friedrich Baron (1810-1888) and his wife Luise, born von Helmich (1815-1883).

Military career

After visiting the cadet houses in Wahlstatt and Berlin , Baron was transferred to the 3rd Posen Infantry Regiment No. 58 of the Prussian Army on September 23, 1860 as portepeef ensign. He was promoted to second lieutenant by the end of January 1861 and was adjutant of the 1st battalion from January 1866 . In this capacity he took part in the battle of Nachod during the war against Austria and was seriously wounded by a shot in the abdomen near Skalitz . For his behavior, Baron was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords. After his restoration, he became regimental adjutant in mid-May 1867 and rose to prime lieutenant a month later .

At the beginning of the war against France , Baron led the mobile 1st company of his regiment in the battles near Weißenburg , Wörth , near Metz and near Sedan . During the siege of Paris on September 24, 1870 , he was promoted to captain as company commander in the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment No. 91 , with whom he participated in the battles at Beaune-la-Rolande , Beaugency and Le Mans .

Awarded the Iron Cross II. Class and the Knight of Honor II. Class of the Oldenburg House and Merit Order of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig with Swords, Baron stayed with the occupying army in France after the peace agreement with his association . At the beginning of September 1881 he was promoted to the superfluous major and in mid-November 1882 appointed to the regular staff officer. After being aggregated into his regiment on December 6, 1883 , he became commander of the 1st Battalion in mid-January 1884. As a lieutenant colonel, Baron was again at the staff from August 2, 1888 to November 17, 1890. Subsequently, with the promotion to colonel, he was transferred as commander of the Pomeranian Fusilier Regiment No. 34 to Bromberg . In position à la suite of his regiment, he was commissioned on April 21, 1894 to lead the 20th Infantry Brigade in Posen . Baron married on July 14, 1868 in Habelschwerdt with Emma Damitz (1844-1921). The three children Alfred (* 1869), Margarete (* 1873) and Wilhelm (* 1875) resulted from the marriage.
