Korach (Sidra)
Korach ( Hebrew קֹרַח; named after the biblical figure Korach ) denotes a reading section (called Parascha or Sidra) of the Torah and comprises the text Numbers / Bemidbar 16–18 (16 BHS ; 17 BHS ; 18 BHS ).
It is the cider of the 4th or 5th Shabbat in the month of Siwan or the 1st Shabbat in the month of Tammuz .
Essential content
- Korach, cousin of Moses and Aaron , as well as Datan , Abiram and On, son of Pelet, revolt against Moses and Aaron, accuse them of arrogance and arrogance and are therefore devoured by the earth.
- The 250 insurgents who offered incense without being a priest are consumed by fire.
- Because of the murmuring of the Israelites , a plague breaks out, which Aaron stopped with atonement (offering incense) after nearly 15,000 people had already died.
- Aaron's staff bears flowers and produces almonds as a sign of his divine election.
- In addition to the offerings of animal and food offerings, the priest also owns the firstfruits, ie the first offerings of oil, wine and grain, the firstborn of man and the unclean animals, which is released (cf. also Pidjon ha-Ben ).
- The firstborn of the pure animals is sacrificed and eaten by the priests.
- Levites receive the tithe (ma'asser) of oil, wine and grain and give the tithe themselves to the priests.
