The Kreisgymnasium Riedlingen (short: KGR) is a general education high school in Riedlingen , which is sponsored by the Biberach district .

history

The Kreisgymnasium Riedlingen emerged from a Latin school founded in 1286 , which, after its closure in 1774, was re-established in 1815 in the building of today's Riedlinger town hall. After the conversion to the Real Latin School in 1877 and the move to the school building of today's Joseph Christian Community School on Grabenstrasse in 1903, the school was expanded into a Progymnasium three years later . The affiliation of the upper level and conversion to the municipal high school in Riedlingen took place in 1938. After the district school administration of the district high school Riedlingen in 1967, this moved in 1972 to today's school building on Ziegelhüttenstrasse.

From 2003 onwards , numerous and extensive modernization measures were carried out, among other things as part of the Investment, Future, Education and Care program. The result was a cafeteria, which has been supplied and operated by the Dornahof kitchen since the 2013/2014 school year , and an atrium used as a lounge . In the years that followed, the science rooms in particular were modernized. In 2007 the media library opened , which extends over two floors in the center of the school and has around 14,000 media. In 2009 the sports hall of the district high school was first extensively renovated. Numerous rooms followed in the school itself, including the teachers' room, the bases of the student councils and the secretariat.

Educational offer

schooldays

After the eight-year high school was introduced in 2004 , this concept was broken up again in 2013. Since the 2013/2014 school year, the Riedlingen high school, which applied for the model project, has offered the G8 and a newly designed G-9 train side by side. However, the number of registrations for the G-8 train remained so low in the following years that no parallel class could be formed in the G-8 train.

Profiles

As a general high school, the Kreisgymnasium Riedlingen has both a linguistic and a scientific profile.

In the linguistic profile course, students can learn up to three foreign languages. The languages Latin, English, French and Spanish are offered, with English being compulsory up to and including the 10th school year. There is also the option of completing the Graecum in the Greek AG.

In the science profile course, students learn two languages and therefore have to choose between Latin and French as a second foreign language. From the 8th grade onwards, science and technology are added as a core subject.

Working groups

In addition to the atrium and the media library, working groups also play a role in the concept of open all-day care. There are courses in the linguistic, social science, artistic, sporting, scientific, but also information technology field. In addition, there are mostly projects led by specialist teachers.

In addition to some history projects, the school project Business @ School of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) , the Jugend forscht AG , the school choir and the school orchestra are particularly popular among high school students.
